Off to the side of the ramp lies a piece of memorial granite that pays respects to a young hand glider pilot who lost his life while test-flying a friend’s hand glider without a safety harness.

Weather-worn and facing north, it reads:

In Memory of Steve Green

And his love of friendship, life and flight.
The indefinable pleasure experienced in soaring high in the air, rocking above the sunny slopes without jar or noise, accompanied only by the music issuing from the wires of the apparatus, is well-worth the task of becoming an expert.
